Western Europe is one of the most travelled and diverse regions in the world, combining major global cities, layered history, and strong cultural identities. It includes countries such as France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, and Austria. Cities like Paris, London, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Vienna are global centres for culture, finance, fashion, and politics, offering endless museums, historic landmarks, and creative energy.
Beyond the cities, the region offers wine regions, alpine landscapes, coastal towns, and rural countryside. From the vineyards of France and Switzerland to the lakes of Austria and the green hills of Ireland, Western Europe balances urban intensity with scenic calm. Western Europe is generally safe, stable, and easy to travel, with excellent transport connections and infrastructure. Costs vary significantly between countries and cities, and popular destinations can feel crowded in peak seasons. Overall, it is one of the most accessible and comfortable regions for travellers, whether visiting for the first time or returning repeatedly.

Try visiting one of the breweries run by monks. Belgium also has a lot of poignant military history where in Ypres there is a remembrance ceremony every evening at 8pm.
France – The most visited country in the world by international tourists and for good reason. Highly diverse regions from Parisian culture to wine country and Mediterranean coast. Strong food identity and layered history shape travel experiences. Infrastructure is among Europe’s best.
Germany – Large economy with efficient transport and strong regional identities. Berlin offers creative energy while Bavaria reflects tradition and industry. Travel is easy and reliable. The east has a young and different vibe.

United Kingdom – Dense history, varied regions, and strong cultural influence. London is a global city while rural areas remain distinct and traditional. The UK is small but train travel can be expensive. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are all distinctive destinations with rich tourism opportunities.
