About us

Hi, I am Rich, and I created Regal Sunset with my son Alex for travellers who want destination recommendations shaped around who they are, not generic lists or sponsored content.

When I was a kid, a long time ago now, I used to fall asleep reading an atlas. On the Africa page, I drew a route from north to south and imagined following it one day (see actual image!) Before work, children, and the responsibilities of adult life took over, I completed that journey. The curiosity that started back then never left.

Since then, I have traveled whenever time has allowed. Even after visiting more than 100 countries, I still found it surprisingly difficult to get genuinely useful information about destinations online. Travel guides have evolved from the Atlas and the internet makes it much easier to find things quickly. But it is crowded with advertising, biased recommendations, and content that assumes everyone wants the same type of trip.

Some people travel for culture, cities, and conversations with locals. Others prefer beaches, nightlife, or travelling in groups. Safety means different things to different people, depending on experience, timing, and comfort level. Yet most travel advice treats destinations as either safe or unsafe, good or bad.

That gap is why Regal Sunset exists.

Regal Sunset tailors destination suggestions based on your own preferences, travel style, experience, and practical considerations such as time and safety. The aim is not to push people towards places, but to help them understand which destinations are likely to suit them, and why.

The platform combines destination knowledge with community insight to create a more realistic picture of what travel is actually like on the ground. Over time, this will reflect a wide range of perspectives, from first time travellers to those who have spent years exploring the world.

Regal Sunset is built for the modern era of travel. Travel today is expensive, time limited, and increasingly complex. Making the right choice matters.

The platform is unbiased and free to use. Its role is to support better decisions, not sell holidays.

Your holiday. Your way.
